‘Arrow’ season 2 spoilers: Chatter via Stephen Amell, writing staff
If you are excited for “Arrow” season 2, you are surely not alone. The premiere won’t likely be until early October, but let’s at least lift the curtain on production: The writers are at least a few weeks in!
In a post on their Twitter account, the show’s writing staff confirmed that this is week three members of the writing team are working on getting the story set for the new year. Every writers room works somewhat differently, but the basic processes are the same: You break down the major points that you want to cover during the season, figure out around when they will occur, and then you start to narrow things down to specific episodes as scripts are produced. When you have a show that has 22-23 episodes a season like this one, this is so much easier said than done, especially when you have to deal with ever-changing things like schedules and also leave room for how viewers react to certain characters and arcs. Take, for example, the extremely positive response to Felicity Smoak this past year.
In a more comedic note, it sounds like Stephen Amell has been doing some recruiting for the new season based on this message on his own Twitter:
“Pretty sure I convinced Giancarlo Esposito to guest star in #Arrow eventually. @GBerlanti @AJKreisberg @mguggenheim — You’re welcome.”
Granted, Esposito is pretty busy right now courtesy of being a series regular on “Revolution,” but nobody plays villains quite like him. Can’t he just be Gus Fring forever? Or, maybe they can make him the long-lost BFF of The Count, since Seth Gabel’s character was pretty much the love child of Fring and the Joker.
