‘America’s Got Talent’ preview: Chicago, and not a singer in sight
Thanks in part to the season finale of “The Voice” airing tomorrow night, “America’s Got Talent” is being moved up to a special time at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. While there may not be as much time to catch some of the talent that lies ahead in Chicago, hopefully it will be more than just entertaining; it will prove that there are capable winners for this season that are different than anything we have seen before.
We’ve had a ton of fun so far, but the one worry we have is that the favorite to win right now is probably a singer in Paul Thomas Mitchell. This isn’t meant as a slam against the guy, but shouldn’t this show have stronger competition when it comes to contestants who aren’t capable of trying out for one of the three other singing competitions that are currently on the air? This show needs great non-singing acts in order to be viable, and while there have been some that have entertained us (such as a guy doing a headstand 70 feet in the air), we can’t say that any of them will stand the test of time enough to win.
This is why we’re thrilled that there is not a single vocalist in sight in the clip below. Instead, we have karate groups, dog acts, dancers, and acrobats. We’d love to see a world-class magic act or another great comedian step forward, as there has not been in particular any of the latter so far this season.
What sort of act would you love to see on “America’s Got Talent” tomorrow? If you want to read up on what some of our personal highlights are from the season so far, all you have to do is click here.
