NBC’s ‘The Voice’ finale: How Blake Shelton, Usher should campaign

The VoiceIf Blake Shelton wants to win “The Voice” this week, he’s already for-sure got a 66% chance. Both Danielle Bradbery and the Swon Brothers are still in the competition moving forward to the finale, and the former is widely considered to be the favorite to win the whole competition.

So does he have anything to worry about from Michelle Chamuel? Certainly, which means that Blake really needs to pull out the big moves in order to win. So what can the coaches do, beyond just picking good songs and giving funny quotes, to ensure that their individual contestant wins?

For Blake – The biggest thing is just to simply be yourself, pick songs that appeal to that country demographic, and emphasize how hard you will work to get them the connections they need to succeed. While Blake wasn’t able to help Jermaine Paul out much, he certainly has contributed in some ways to the success of another one of his winners in Cassadee Pope. He could easily do the same thing for the brothers or Danielle if they win.

Also, Blake could probably just emphasize at some point that Tuesday is his birthday … so wouldn’t it be nice to celebrate with a big win on the finale of the show?

For Usher – In this case, it’s really going to be all about trying to pull over the fans that were voting for Sasha Allen, and possibly some of the ones voting for Amber (even if she was a country artist). That means finding a way to take some big chances with the song, get people online really talking, and trying to capitalize on Blake’s weakness in that he often picks very safe songs.

Meanwhile, there is also the celebrity contacts angle that he could go here if he really wanted to. Think about some of the people that Usher has worked with, and helps to mentor (see Justin Bieber). If some of these people tweet out Michelle’s voting information, she could really have a shot. (Then again, Blake also has the entire country music community, so focusing on wowing the audience is probably the best move.)
