‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5: See Kat Graham open up on pre-show life (video)

Now that she is a part of “The Vampire Diaries” leading into season 5, Kat Graham has been able to find a pretty substantial place for herself as one of the most promising young actresses on TV (and this is without mentioning her music career). However, what may surprise you now is how it wasn’t always anywhere close to being this way.

Graham appeared this week on the family / food-oriented “The Show with Vinny” on MTV, and told former “Jersey Shore” star Vinny Guadagnino about how when she first signed on to do the hit CW series, she literally did not have any cash to her name, and was going to do her best to stretch her earnings for as long as humanly possible.

“When I booked ‘Vampire Diaries’ I had 86 cents to me … I thought I was going to get killed off, so I saved my money. For the first six months, I slept on an inflatable mattress.”

What’s interesting about Graham now is that even when the producers did decide to kill her off, they really still could not write her off the show entirely. Instead, they have found an interesting way to keep her around courtesy of conversations with one Jeremy Gilbert. We don’t quite know how this will work throughout the course of the entire season, but it is going to be exciting to see what sort of interesting twists and turns that the writers are going to be able to create and tinker with.
