‘Doctor Who’ season 8 spoilers: Dominic Cooper open to replacing Matt Smith
Well, this is going to come as a bit of a shock: An actor rumored to be a “Doctor Who” candidate to replace Matt Smith actually admitting that they are interested in the gig. Domhnall Gleeson and many others have already said that it’s not on their radar, but Dominic Cooper is saying that he would be very much open to the part were the cards to line up the right way.
Cooper, whose film credits include “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter,” confirmed this news in an interview with “This Morning,” saying that there are very few shows out there that would provide the same sort of honor as playing the 12th Doctor:
“I would definitely consider it… it would be very, very scary.”
“Matt’s done an incredible job of it, and he’s made it so different and daring and I wouldn’t know where to begin with where to take that after what he has done. But, of course, it’s an incredible show – you couldn’t possibly not consider it.”
What is interesting here is that Cooper did not actually address whether or not producers have spoken to him about the job, or if he has interviewed for it. We still feel almost as though the next Doctor announcement will come completely out of left field, given that many other names are often leaked to the press as smokescreens; however, Cooper could be one of the more appealing choices out there should producers opt to go in a somewhat-traditional route with their casting.

I think he’d be great.
Just no romance. I like that they’ve dumped that in recent seasons.
