‘The Americans’ season 2 spoilers: Check out some (very) early scoop
It’s never too early to get some scoop on an upcoming season of a show, right? This may be very well what the folks behind “The Americans” were thinking when releasing some early details about season 2 (which will premiere on FX early next year).
While there are no specific story notes to share right now (which makes sense, given that there is really not even a writing process to speak of right now), executive producer Joe Weisberg was still kind enough to talk a little bit about who you are going to see have a much larger role in the wake of some finale shockers:
“There’s going to be a lot of Paige in Season 2 … That [moment] was not just a one-off. It’s not just ‘Paige got suspicious and looked in the basement.’ There’s going to be a lot of Paige thinking about her parents, and parents thinking about Paige.”
So can we officially name Paige the most troublesome daughter on TV right now? Sorry, Sally Draper: She’s probably got this in the bag.
As you may have already guessed, it has also been confirmed that Phillip is going to be moving back in with Elizabeth for the second season. This of course has to be considered pretty great news, since you really want to see these two characters connecting again rather than spending time apart. What will this mean for his marriage to Martha? It might mean trouble if she ever starts to look into his life more closely.
Do you want to see who we think deserves an Emmy out of the cast of “The Americans”? If so, all you need to do is check out the story over at the link here. It looks like it could potentially be a rather busy awards season for the show, given the recent nominations from the Critics’ Choice TV Awards and the TCA Awards, who will be holding their ceremony a little later in the summer.

Love “The Americans” and think this sounds like a great storyline for next year. I am all for seeing more of Philip and Elizabeth back together and how it affects their family to have a little spying coming from their kids.
(And hoping Martha either becomes less gag-worthy in every scene or they keep her to a minimum next year, please!)
