Could John Oliver join Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert with solo show?
So following this stint, is it possible that Oliver could migrate to a show of his own someday? It’s at least possible, and it is something that he told Entertainment Weekly could happen for him down the road:
“Maybe one day. But I can’t really think that far ahead. It’s like being stuck in open water. Your main thing is trying not to drown. You’re not thinking, ‘Oh, when I don’t drown, I wonder if I should learn Spanish.’ I know it might seem like an achievable goal, but I’m just trying to make sure that when Jon gets back the entire studio isn’t somehow in flames.”
We admit that we are very excited to see what Oliver brings in a hosting capacity. He has been one of the show’s biggest power-players over the past several years, and his zany, off-the-wall humor should work in nice contrast to the subtlety that Stewart brings to the show. The real question is just if you can balance crazy with crazy when it comes to some of the correspondents.
