‘Doctor Who’ season 8 spoilers: The BBC makes statement on Rory Kinnear rumors
There are many reasons to love and appreciate the BBC, but one of them at the moment has to be the way in which they continually respond to any and all speculation about their title role in “Doctor Who.” At this point, everyone knows that Matt Smith is stepping down from a role that he has occupied for the past few years. Meanwhile, everyone also knows that the press is eager to dog pile themselves over any and all casting rumors that come out.
The latest one taking siege of the internet is that “Skyfall” actor Rory Kinnear has been offered the part despite him saying months ago that he’d never actually seen the show; but just as we suggested yesterday, this is not entirely true.
“Speculation around the identity of who will be next to step in to the TARDIS is rife … The search has only just begun and all will be revealed over the coming months.”
See the key word “months” there? We doubt that the network has really made a firm decision just yet as to who the next Doctor will be, but we have a feeling that there will probably be some sort of firm announcement made before Comic-Con next month in San Diego. The producers of the show surely do not want to have their talent forced into a barrage of questions on a subject that they do not have a response for, so we are sure that they will do everything in their power to make sure a resolution comes by this point.
