‘Doctor Who’ season 8 spoilers: BBC confirms no Matt Smith replacement announcement
Well, so much for the rumors of a major “Doctor Who” announcement coming soon. Despite claims that network BBC One, in an effort to try and one-up a British tabloid with information, was going to announce the 12th Doctor in a statement today, sources from the network are now confirming that there is no news to report today. It is still unclear whether or not a major outlet is going to scoop the “Doctor Who” casting this weekend, but the network is obviously confident enough that there is not enough information out there about what is really going on.
The thing that is definitely worth remembering here is that when Matt Smith was first announced as the replacement for David Tennant, almost no one at all had seen it coming. Therefore, some of the names out there could just be misdirection. It still seems pretty premature for the network to really say anything right now, especially given that the news of Smith’s exit was only made known a week ago.
So when can we actually expect some sort of firm decision to be made? We still anticipate something happening in the next month, especially since the producers would probably want the option to be there for the new Doctor to appear during the Christmas special (which is when Smith is going to leave). The new episodes for “Doctor Who” season 8 will film this fall.
What’s your take on all of this mess, and do you think that the real 12th Doctor is someone that we have even heard about over the past few weeks? If you want to check out some more “Doctor Who” season 8 news, be sure to head on over to the link here.

I am still betting on Dominic Cooper.

I don’t think he’s doctor material. Too young, sure matt smith was as well, but dominic cooper looks too much like one of those teenage girl fantasies.
