Neil Patrick Harris on ‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9, 2013 Tony Awards
In an effort to promote the upcoming 2013 Tony Awards on Sunday, Neil Patrick Harris stopped by “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” Friday for what was effectively a pretty fun and engaging interview that covered a variety of different subjects.
For those of you who are here for “How I Met Your Mother” scoop, there’s not much when it comes to what is actually set to happen during season 9 of the show, with one of the primary reasons for that being that we are still over a month away from filming. However, the actor did still describe his general thoughts on the show coming to an end this coming season, and why he is so glad that now is the time that the cast and crew are doing so:
“It’s bittersweet. Nobody wanted the show to just go on for a multitude of years [without knowing] who the mother was … [So] we showed the mother at the end of last season.”
Neil also confirmed that he, longtime love David Burtka, and the couple’s children are moving to New York once filming on the series ends, just so that their family can live in an environment that has a greater amount of culture and atmosphere to it compared to the more spread-out city of Los Angeles.
As for the Tonys, there was of course not too much that could be shared, though Fallon hinted at yet another big opening to the ceremony (which you probably already assumed, given that it happens just about every year). This is a big year for Neil, given that he is not only doing this show, but also the Emmys when they come to CBS in September.
