2013 Teen Choice Awards analysis: ‘Glee,’ ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ ‘New Girl’ face off

Teen ChoiceThe dust has finally settled when it comes to the action category at the Teen Choice Awards, and with that in mind, we are turning the focus over to something designed more to make you laugh: Comedies! This is going to be a marginally-interesting race in that there are some good shows nominated, but there’s one following that will likely to continue to rule them all and completely Gollum this category.

We can always be wrong with our picks, and you may either agree or disagree with us. This is what the poll below is for! Share your thoughts, and also be sure to leave a comment with your take. If you want to check out more TCA news and analysis, the link here should do the trick.

The nominees – “The Big Bang Theory” (CBS), “Glee” (Fox), “Modern Family” (ABC), “New Girl” (Fox), “Suburgatory” (ABC)

The favorite – Let’s go ahead and write “Suburgatory” off, since it has no shot. The viewers of “Modern Family” are too casual, so they go along with them. “New Girl” is a pretty young show, and “The Big Bang Theory” does have a passionate following. However, we don’t think their fans value this award nearly as much as Gleeks do. You can argue as to whether or not this is really a comedy in its purest for or not, but “Glee’s” winning this award, almost without a doubt.

What should win – We’re going to judge this based on quality alone, so we’re going with “New Girl.” You have to admire a show that wants to take risks when it doesn’t have to. It could have coasted rather than deciding to get Nick and Jess together, but it didn’t! Instead, it took the rough road and made them hook up this year, and there were countless hilarious episodes every step of the way.

The Teen Choice Awards airs on Fox August 11. Want to cast your real vote? You can do so by heading on over to the link here!
