‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: Charlotte Rampling talks new character Evelyn Vogel

Every season on “Dexter, there tends to be one big-name guest star that really gets people talking, whether it is John Lithgow, Jimmy Smits, Yvonne Strahovski, or Colin Hanks. This time around, though, we’re not looking at either a Big Bad or a love interest; instead, we’re talking about someone who could be a very serious player in Dexter’s life,  and it is all due to a connection that she has to his past.

While Charlotte Rampling does not say specifically in the video below what the connection is that she has to one Dexter Morgan, Showtime has revealed in some other promotional materials that her character of Dr. Evelyn Vogel helped construct the code with one Harry Morgan many years ago. She thus knows more about Dexter than anyone at the precinct (outside of Deb of course), and the issue becomes what she wants to do with that information (if anything).

What the video does show is the great sense of paranoia that Dexter is going to feel as a result of having Evelyn around, including how nervous he is going to become about having someone who is asking about the Bay Harbor Butcher. Rampling herself says that the ending of the series could leave fans with a sense of bereavement, which is never particularly a good word to hear. She is a fantastic actress, so whatever the story ends up doing as a result of her appearance, we have a feeling that it will still be interesting and grade-A television.
