‘Jersey Shore’s’ Snooki and JWoww meet Chris Christie … and it’s awkward
We could have told you this years ago, but Chris Christie is not a fan of anyone from MTV’s “Jersey Shore.” He’s long blasted them as bad for the state, accused many of them of being mostly New York residents trying to party all over his state’s image, and even at one point suggested that he wanted to ship them all off to Montauk.
Do we understand to an extent why Christie hates the crew? Sure, in the same way that we understand why middle-aged people hate those crazy kids playing music late at night. However, it’s also hard to deny that while “Jersey Shore” was on the air, it did a lot of good for the state’s tourism industry, especially the boardwalk area in Seaside Heights. These cast members did a lot of good to help revitalize a region that was devastated by Hurricane Sandy, including giving time and money to bring the party place back to its former glory.
Well, Snooki and JWoww (flanked by Pauly D and Deena Cortese, who have definitely been out of the press lately) were at the boardwalk this week filming a segment for “The Today Show” about bringing Seaside Heights back into its own now that many repairs have been completed, and guess who was filming some clips of his own: Chris Christie! Snooki at first complained that the Governor was too close while they were trying to film, and ever the agitator, Christie decided to move in even closer.
When the two parties actually shook hands, Snooki decided to fire off this gem of a quote: “I just wanted to meet you, and just, hope you start to like us.” Her facial reaction at the end of the video below? All kinds of amazing.
Oh, and in case you haven’t heard, the “Jersey Shore” spin-off “Snooki & JWoww” is still alive and well. It will be coming back for another season.
