NBC’s ‘The Voice’: Cassadee Pope’s new single to be ‘Wasting All These Tears’
On June 4, Cassadee Pope is going to return to the stage that first made her famous on “The Voice,” and will also be getting an opportunity to show off just what she has been working on musically since she’s been away. This means an opportunity to specifically unveil “Wasting All These Tears,” the new single off of her upcoming debut album.
In case you have not heard the song already, you can hear a performance straight from the Bing Lounge before. What seems particularly interesting about Cassadee’s sound now, and what could give her a shot at succeeding even in the thunder-dome that is country radio, is that she really doesn’t sound like anyone else in that world. Her voice has always been reminiscent of Avril Lavigne, but she has now moved into a lane where she will not be compared time and time again to the “My Happy Ending” rocker. Country is great from a storytelling perspective, and Cassadee has a gift in that department. This is an angst-ridden song, but one that also carries a certain measure of empowerment with it.
We still don’t know whether or not Pope’s song is actually going to go anywhere on the radio, mostly because “The Voice” does not exactly have a great track record for producing viable artists. The show has dropped the ball on that aspect, but there have not been any songs thus far from a winner that we really thought had the sort of “hit” potential you would want in the first place. At least there is something catchy about Pope’s song, and that gives it a shot if the right stations choose to pick it up.
We’re not done yet when it comes to talking about “The Voice.” In case you missed out on the recent performance that Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert did for Oklahoma relief on the show, be sure to visit the link here.
