‘True Blood’ season 6: Major death teased again in new poster
We all know that “True Blood” season 6 is going to be a pretty bloody year, but how much so? Let’s just say that there is a death of a character coming up that is so dramatic, HBO is almost doing whatever it can in order to prepare you for it now.
The photo in the show’s brand-new poster for the June 16 premiere is intentionally-blurry, that way it can still be at least somewhat ambiguous as to what we are looking at here save for a male vampire. What has to be more ominous here comes via the tagline: “no one lives forever.” If you’ve been following this show pretty religiously, you already know what that means. There is a difference between death and a true death for vampires, but no matter how you look at it, at least one major character will perish near the middle-end portion of the season. This is not going to be akin to just one of those three-or-four-episode arc people getting staked, or even someone like Tommy Mickens, who we started to really come to know and appreciate.
With all of the hype that the producers are currently generating, the best comparison that we can give here is to what happened to Ryan Hurst’s character of Opie on “Sons of Anarchy” season 5. Losing him was almost like losing a family member for many as it was brutal and especially shocking given how long he had been a part of the program.
One thing we can promise you here is that for the sake of surprise, we are never going to give away the identity of who we are ultimately going to see perish. Some things truly are better off a secret, and this is one of them.
There is more “True Blood” coming up over the rest of the month, including a pretty cool retrospective special airing a week from Friday. If you want to see a preview clip of that, the link here should serve as your companion rather well.
