NBC’s ‘The Voice’ preview: Did Danielle Bradbery, Swon Brothers hit iTunes top 10?

If you remember back to season 3 of “The Voice,” Carson Daly continually made an enormous deal out of the coveted multiplier that happened whenever an artist had a song that landed in the top 10 on iTunes for the night. In a way, this was a smack in the face to people who can’t afford to pick up downloads from their favorite singers week after week, but at the same time, it was rather brilliant. This was the show proving a market for some of their singers during the competition, and it helped guarantee that the winner is someone who could have a shot. (Granted, we still don’t know if Cassadee Pope will be successful given that she has yet to even release her first single to radio.)

What’s interesting is that while there were multiple top 10 vote-getters last season, nobody hit the mark in the first week of eligibility this time around. Leading the way was the Swon Brothers’ tribute to George Jones at #18, and they were followed by Sarah Simmons (#20), Josiah Hawley (#21), and Danielle Bradbery (#22), who was the champ the first week.

As for who is going home, the consensus appears to be Usher’s Vedo. Despite having a look and sound somewhat similar to his coach, the guy just didn’t get it together on Monday. Plus, he performed first, and his single is ranked the lowest on iTunes by a huge margin. As for who will join him, that’s a closer race; however, we imagine it to be Kris Thomas given that Garrett Gardner (who also ranked low) may have some votes due to familiarity and trying something different with a Backstreet Boys song.
