‘American Idol’ top 3 results: Angie Miller’s dream (and an Adam Lambert video)

You could have very well just fast-forwarded through most of this shock-free season of “American Idol” just to bring you to Thursday night’s results show. Pending to some sort of “cute guy” voting strategy that caused someone to make it far who really did not deserve to, the writing was pretty obviously on the wall here as to what was going to happen when it came to Kree Harrison, Angie Miller, and Candice Glover.

What you may not have expected, meanwhile, is what happened when we made it to this point.  This was the elimination that we really never saw coming leading up to this week. Angie Miller had never even been in the bottom two, let along been at risk of leaving the competition. She had the big voice, the Christian voters, and even the story of Boston carrying her.

In the end, we don’t know what cost her the crown. Maybe it was too many people watching “The Voice” instead? Anyhow, Angie really didn’t need to win this show anyway, because really she already has a big shot at becoming a star in the genre that she wants to get into, whereas Candice and Kree could actually use the promotional boost from 19 Entertainment in a more substantial way. There aren’t too many singers not named Adele tearing up the pop charts these days, while Kree has to get accustomed to the fact that country radio is the “Hunger Games” of all radio. To women, trying to survive in the industry is the zombie apocalypse with only three or four ladies dominating the charts.

In one more week, this competition will be over which to us means two good things: We will have a winner, and maybe we’ll have a shot at getting a judging panel soon built up of people who genuinely like each other and have a little chemistry instead of just big names and even bigger pay checks without a big payoff for viewers.
