‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Kristen Wiig, Fred Armisen party like it’s last year
It’s rather funny seeing all of the talk about “Saturday Night Live” nostalgia coming from Kristen Wiig, mostly because she was just a part of the show last year. The former cast member is making her first turn as host for the show in a matter of days now, and early expectations are that we could be in for quite a show.
First of all, we do have to say that we are rather thrilled already to see an appearance from Fred Armisen in the show’s official promo. Fred is a longtime scene-stealer alongside Wiig, and they did some of their best work together. While we really don’t want to see another edition of “The Californians,” this is really the only time that they could do it and make it feel right.
Wiig of course has a tremendous backlog of characters that she has used over the years, and this show is probably one that will polarize a good many viewers. If you felt for whatever reason that there was too much Kristen back when she was actually on “SNL,” you’re probably not going to love this. On the flip side, no one really does a better job of improving on the show than her, or coming up with new ways to make some of the other cast members feel uncomfortable. Plus, the promo below shows that she and Fred do have some pretty sick dance moves.
Ultimately, our real hope here is just that we have a much better show than everything since Melissa McCarthy. The talent is there, and it is all about the scripts.
What do you think about Kristen’s promo, and do you think that the odds are pretty high right now that we could be in for a great show? If you want to check out a full review of the edition hosted by Zach Galifianakis this past weekend, you can do so over at the link here.
