‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2 finale spoilers: About that Hook / Baelfire connection…
Did you think that all of the mystery surrounding Captain Hook and Baelfire on “Once Upon a Time” season 2 was resolved courtesy of one scene during this past episode “The Second Star to the Left”? Well, think again. As it turns out, there is a much more interesting story still to tell when it comes to these two characters, and the link between them extends beyond the child arriving on his boat.
This very fact is made clear courtesy of the official description of “And Straight On ‘Til Morning,” the season finale airing on Sunday night. Not only that, but there is the first real mentioning of the Lost Boys, and also the possible conclusion of the story revolving around Greg and Tamara:
“The inhabitants of Storybrooke brace themselves for the end when Greg and Tamara detonate the trigger Regina had placed within the curse, with the annihilation of the town and its residents imminent; and Mr. Gold mourns the loss of his son, Bae/Neal. Meanwhile, back in Neverland of the past, Hook discovers his connection to a young Bae after he rescues him from the sea and soon realizes that the Lost Boys are in hot pursuit of the boy.”
There are plenty of questions worth asking, including if Storybrooke will be saved and what becomes of Baelfire. However, the supposed emotional reaction of Mr. Gold to the loss of his son suggests something rather interesting to us. Is it possible that hearing some sort of sad news about Baelfire’s fate actually awakened in Gold the part of him that is good again? We can only hope so, mostly because it would be no fun at all to see this character wander around and be completely evil forever.
