‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2 finale spoilers: Will Storybrooke survive?

Lana ParrillaWe have a first look at Sunday night’s “Once Upon a Time” season finale, and we are finally going to have an opportunity to see something that really does unite all of the characters for really the first time ever: Having to deal with a disaster on the level of Storybrooke collapsing upon itself.

During “The Second Star to the Left,” we saw Greg and Tamara get a hold of the mysterious black gem that acts as a fail safe for the curse, which means that it can be used to destroy the tiny Maine town and wipe it completely off the map. The problem, of course, is that this is never how Regina had ever hoped for it to be used. She’s now having to contend with other people trying to destroy the town, and she may be its only hope to fend it off using her magic. Unfortunately, what is unclear is whether or not she even possesses enough magic following her torture to really accomplish anything.

As for the rest of the episode, the only thing we can say is to expect mystery. For those of you looking for a reason to have hope about Neal, all we can say is that his back story will continue to be touched upon. If he was really dead, why would the show even bother? The characters also have the challenge of having to break this news to Mr. Gold, who is surely not going to love to hear that the son he worked so hard to find is now gone again.

What did you think about this promo, and do you have any hope that Storybrooke can be saved? If you want to read our full review for Sunday night’s episode, you can do so over here.
