‘The Following’ season 2 spoilers: Kevin Bacon talks possible time jump
So will “The Following” take a great leap forward when season 2 officially picks up? Based on what one of the show’s stars is saying now about the storyline, that seems to very much be a possibility. After all, the characters need a little time to try to rest and recover, and while we’re sure that next season’s premiere will pick up in the immediate aftermath of the shocking stabbing, there does need to be some sort of breathing room wedged between there.
Speaking as a part of a new interview with TVLine, here is what Kevin Bacon had to say about some of what is being talked about thus far when it comes to the story, including whether or not we could see the story inch forward or take a leap across a massive span of time:
“My discussions with [series creator] Kevin [Williamson] about next year have been in very broad strokes… but I do know that the things that I really respond to, that he’s brought up to me, are the ideas that when you see [Ryan] at the beginning of next season, he’s in a very different place in his life … So, the idea is that we may jump ahead in time.”
Bacon is clearly onto something here in that no one really wants to see Ryan Hardy be a miserable, recovering sad-sack for the entirety of the series’ run. This would just be repetitive and rather dreary, and he needs to be given an opportunity to at least try to be a little bit happier.
Do you think that a time jump would be very much a good thing for the show? If you want to see whether or not there are going to be any characters with a larger role on the show moving forward, be sure to hit up the link here.
