‘Britain’s Got Talent’ takes down ‘The Voice’ UK again in close ratings battle

While we know that Simon Cowell is still not particularly happy with the fact that both “Britain’s Got Talent” and “The Voice” UK are on TV at the same time of the year, we are thrilled to see that the once-tense feud between the two shows is starting to settle down a little bit. This means that you can watch one program without having to face too much of an overlap with the other, and there is a little less sniping going on in the press.

However, what is curious to this point is how the ratings battle between the two shows has tightened over the past few weeks. This weekend, for example, “The Voice” drew a new season high with an average audience of 7.9 million viewers, with a peak viewership at one point close to 10 million. These are great numbers for the second-year show, but we still anticipate a drop next week when the show moves to Saturdays and Sundays, and also moves past the blind auditions that are generally rather popular.

Meanwhile, the latest “Britain’s Got Talent” episode managed to pull in 9.52 million viewers, which is an increase of 200,000 from the week before. This is the first time in weeks that Cowell’s show has widened the gap with “The Voice,” and it should not have as much to worry about from here on out, especially since it still has audition shows left. Next weekend, this competition also moves to a two-night format, likely so that it can compete with “The Voice” and also prepare for the busy part of its competition moving forward.
