TNT’s ‘Dallas’ season 3 official; show renewed for early 2014

For those of you who were worried (like we were) about the future of “Dallas” on TNT, allow us to put your mind at ease. The popular primetime serial is coming back for more. Despite losing substantial viewing figures in its second season versus what we saw in the summer of 2012, the network has ordered 15 more episodes of the series, which will start airing in early 2014. The show is thus keeping the series in the winter spot, which is both good news for the impatient, but bad news for those who have a million other shows to watch.

In a statement confirming the news, TNT, TBS, and TCM president Michael Wright had the following to say about the decision to bring the show back for more moving forward:

“Dallas has built a passionately loyal following with its expertly woven storylines, clever twists and turns, and numerous outstanding performances by a cast that spans generations … Although we said goodbye to Larry Hagman and his iconic character J.R. Ewing this year, Dallas has many more stories left to tell, and the Ewing clan will continue to honor J.R.’s memory by keeping its audience surprised and delighted.”

As of right now, there is no word as to whether or not there are any substantial changes coming to the show’s cast, which we hope will stay the same following the end of Hagman’s iconic role. There are sure to be some new characters also stopping by Southfork Ranch, but we will probably not know much about that until a little later on in the year.
