‘Homeland’ season 3: Claire Danes’ pre-production gig at the White House
Next month, production is officially set to begin on “Homeland” season 3 in North Carolina, but before we come to that, we have some news breaking out of Washington DC. Claire Danes is having an opportunity to hobnob with some real titans in government.
The actress has been confirmed to be one of the many celebrities in attendance to the 2013 White House Correspondents Winner held on Saturday night. This event has become more of a roast in recent years than anything else, and this time around Conan O’Brien will join President Barack Obama and others in helping to point out just how ridiculous this tradition has become in some ways.
Danes’ appearance at the CBS News table (where she has been a guest before) does at least make some sense, as she is on a show that is themed around politics and is involved in many causes along with husband and “Hannibal” star Hugh Dancy. It also helps that “Homeland” is one of the President’s favorite shows, and so it’s possible that he will get in a Nicholas Brody joke during his monologue.
Some of the other celebrities also booked to attend this year include “Gangnam Style” hit maker PSY (also at the CBS News table), sitcom producer Chuck Lorre, Willie and Korie Robertson of “Duck Dynasty,” Ryan Kwanten, Courteney Cox, Sofia Vergara, Eric Stonestreet, and many more. There is no word yet on if Kim Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan, who are some of the more notorious guests in years past that have brought the event some criticism of late, will make a return appearance. (Fox News is known for stirring up controversy with some of their invites.)
“Homeland” season 3 will officially premiere on Showtime on Sunday, September 29, and by that time, most everyone will have forgotten that this dinner ever happened. If you do want to read some more news on Danes’ storyline in the upcoming episodes, be sure to visit the link here.
