‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4, episode 21 preview: Nina Dobrev’s new challenge

Nina DobrevAs a character, Elena Gilbert is probably going through some of the worst situations on “The Vampire Diaries” season 4 than almost any other person on TV at the moment (and that is really saying something). She has been turned into a vampire, forced to suck blood, placed under a sire bond with Damon, forced to see her brother Jeremy die, lose her humanity, go on a mini-killing spree, and now, she’s basically being tortured in a last-ditch attempt to get her humanity switch back into the “on” position.

So will this torture really amount to being able to save her life? That is what we are set to find out in the new “She’s Come Undone,”  episode airing next week. It seems appropriate first and foremost that Stefan would be the one to take the lead in trying to find a way to get Elena back to her former self, if for no other reason than that he’s had something similar done to him in his ripper days.

But are either one of them going to be successful? The challenge here is that while Damon and Stefan are clearly invested in making her feel free, which has been proven to be some sort of trigger inside of her, she may still believe in her heart that neither one of them (especially Damon) will ever let anything seriously awful happen to her. With this in mind, they may actually need to turn up the heat.

Do you think that Damon is going to have to take a back seat for Elena to ever get her humanity back, or do you think that this statement really applies to both Salvatores in general? If you want to read our full review of “The Originals,” be sure to just check out the story over at the link here.
