‘Glee’ season 4 spoilers: Will Naya Rivera stick around for season 5?
While we heard the news on Friday that “Glee” has been renewed for both a fifth and a sixth season, there is also one thing that we ultimately did not hear: whether or not all of the show’s most-popular people are going to be back. While you’d like to assume that Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, and the rest of the gang would be back, Ryan Murphy may at some point have to either cut back on the budget, or focus in on some smaller stories rather than bouncing back and forth between all of the different worlds.
With that in mind, it only seems appropriate to ask the questions about who may return, and who could end up getting left in behind. Luckily, there is some good news coming in now for all fans of Naya Rivera: you will be seeing much more of Santana. After a fan asked her this very question on Twitter, here is what she had to say:
“Of course [I’ll be in it]! Santana isn’t going anywhere. ;-)”
What will be a little more interesting is how the show chooses to handle Santana’s longtime friend-turned-love interest Brittany. Heather Morris is currently a few months into her first pregnancy, and is set to give birth at some point in the early fall when “Glee” season 5 is in the thick of filming. Morris will clearly have a limited role next season, so we’re sure that Murphy and his writers are going to have to get creative to deal with this one. As for Cory Monteith, we expect him to be out of treatment well within the time necessary to start back on season 5 later this summer.
Who do you think could be in danger of not returning to “Glee”? If you want to hear Michele, Monteith, and some of the other stars reflect back on the pilot episode, you can do so over at the link here.

While I’m pleased about Lea, Cory and Naya being on board for Glee’s 5th season, I’m most interested in whether Chris Colfer will be. I believe his contract is good for the 5th, but I have not heard confirmation. Kurt (Chris Colfer) was the character who pulled me into Glee’s web, from his first wide-eyed “help me” stare prior to being tossed into a dumpster during the pilot – as an oblivious Mr Shue passed by, chatting up the jocks. Colfer is great at comedy and high drama and has a wonderfully unique (and surprisingly versatile) voice that has developed so very well over the last 4 years.
