‘The Vampire Diaries’ finale spoilers: Scoop on Ian Somerhalder’s Damon and more

Are we still a good ways away from the season 4 finale of “The Vampire Diaries”? Definitely, but there is still plenty of time to start talking about the events that will unfold in this May 16 “Graduation” episode. Yes, we are going to see some of the students of Mystic Falls’ high school clan ponder what to do with the rest of their lives, but as you have heard in some other recent stories, a good part of the plot will revolve around trying to restore some of the mystery that was once present in the Damon / Elena / Stefan love triangle.

While we cannot get into many specifics as to how the lives of these three characters will change, we do at least have to share right now the following quote (per TVLine) via executive producer Julie Plec:

“We will know, when the finale is over, where everyone stands in the context of the Stefan/Damon/Elena triangle … It will definitely set all three of them on a very different and interesting path when we move forward.”

Plec also said that there are some “romantic moments” that happen between some of the key characters, and there is also the potential for there to be some pretty stunning events that unfold. Does this potentially include death? Anything is possible on this show, but we would be surprised if there were any more stunning deaths considering that so many characters are leaving the show already for “The Originals” (which is almost sure to be picked up by The CW following the backdoor pilot on Thursday).
