‘Glee’ season 4 spoilers: More on Mike O’Malley, Katey Sagal appearances
So when are we going to see a pair of “Glee” guest stars in the weeks ahead? While “Sons of Anarchy” star Katey Sagal may be new to the show as Artie’s mom, Mike O’Malley’s Burt Hummel is a little bit of a veteran and a popular fixture among “Glee” fans. He is also someone that has been through the wringer, as he has battled both a heart attack and prostate cancer in the past few years while also seeking political office.
Both of these actors are now confirmed to be appearing in the 21st episode of the season (the last before the finale entitled “Wonder-ful,” which airs on Thursday, May 2 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. While it’s entirely clear why we are seeing more of Burt at this time, the synopsis below makes it clear that Sagal is going to have a legitimate story to tell as well:
“The members of New Directions take on the greatest hits of music icon Stevie Wonder. Meanwhile, Artie receives news that could affect his future and his mom (guest star Sagal). In New York, Rachel prepares for her “Funny Girl” callback.”
What could this news be? Obviously, the hope is that it is of the pleasant variety, and will allow the Artie character to really have some more opportunities in order to chase his dreams after showing off a flair for directing the last two seasons. We’re just hoping for something interesting at this point, since the character has been sidelined for whatever reason pretty much ever since his relationship with Brittany came to an end back in season 2.
This episode is also going to feature an appearance from Romy Rosemont as Finn’s mom, though the irony here is that this will be one of the two episodes Cory Monteith misses due to his current stay in rehab.
