‘The X Factor’ USA / UK notes: Carly Rose Sonenclar, Fifth Harmony, Union J

Carry YouIs Union J set to become the new One Direction? We don’t know the answer to that just yet, but following this past season of “The X Factor” UK, it was fairly clear that these boys were the ones that the labels were really fighting to sign. They have big voices, have an enormous following with the ladies, and they are already set to get their music out there for the world to hear before they start to slip off of the radar.

For more evidence of their efforts, just check out the cover to the left for “Carry You,” the debut single from the group that will start receiving radio airplay a week from Monday. The album from the boys will not be in stores until June 2, but the goal here is to obviously have people become as invested in the group as possible before that time, just so that there is an opportunity to build up hype. What is also smart for the guys here is that they are releasing this album at a time in which there is not much competition in the boy band space.

A brief performance – If we are talking about degrees from One Direction, here’s this: Fifth Harmony has met the boys before, and the girls are also big fans of Ed Sheeran, who wrote the song “Little Things” that was on the album “Take Me Home.”

In the video below, Dinah Jane Hansen performs a few lines from one her personal favorite Sheeran songs in “Kiss Me,” and it’s rather entertaining despite the short run time.

Concert preparation – Finally, a brief update on Carly Rose Sonenclar’s upcoming New York Concert on August 10: she’s already begun working out the set that she will perform, which is sure to be a mix of “X Factor” hits and new surprises. In case you haven’t picked up tickets yet, you can do so over here.
