‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9, episode 20 review: An infection (and lies) start to spread
On Thursday night’s new episode of “Grey’s Anatomy,” we saw what was in many ways the direct continuation of the story from last week: Meredith learned that she is a carrier potentially for Alzheimer’s, and this forced her for most part to spend this episode trying to figure out just how she was going to ultimately plan for her future.
There was undoubtedly some sadness in this story, but one of the nicer things that came out of it was that we really did see Derek do just about everything that he could in order to make her feel better. He even got his own genome tested in order to see what sort of trouble could be underneath the surface.
While this happened, Owen continued to connect with the young child that he grew close to last week, and did what he could to make sure he was taken care of while his parents were in ICU. Ultimately, though, it started to be apparent what he was really doing here: clinging to something in children that is still a contentious point in his relationship with Cristina.
As for some of the other stories this week, April ended up having some serious relationship issues, as she admitted to Matthew that she actually wasn’t a virgin. What was the biggest problem here? It wasn’t that she was not a virgin so much as that she lied about it. So this doesn’t seem to be going anywhere now, does it? Well, maybe this will bring us a step closer to her and Jackson being together again soon … even though for now, she is unraveling and giving the Syrian doctors stopping by all sorts of free supplies. Speaking of Jackson, he is starting to get used to his new job running the hospital.
Meanwhile, the biggest shocker of the night was that Dr. Bailey was possibly responsible for the infection that was putting patients in danger, and there was nothing that she could do about it. It was a strong moment for Chandra Wilson, but also a very sad one.
