‘American Idol’ top 7 results: Did Lazaro Arbos, Burnell Taylor find a way to survive?
At this moment, we could almost name the “American Idol” results show “do they guys really have a shot?”. After all, a man has went home for three straight weeks, and there is nothing about the recent voting results that suggests that it will change. After all, both Lazaro Arbos and Burnell Taylor have been in danger in the past, and Burnell had the dishonor of going first on the night.
So what happened leading up this? We had a welcome performance from Casey James, who had never been invited to the show in the past since his third-place finish all the way back in season 9. Meanwhile, Carrie Underwood also stopped by to perform her brand-new single off of “Blown Away.” On a separate note, isn’t it kind of cool that Casey gave everyone a little something to remind them of home while they are in Los Angeles? If this doesn’t scream “nice guy,” we don’t know what does.
Okay, now let’s get to the results … and start with the serious giant finger wag at the sight of Lazaro Arbos in the top three. What in the world happened here? Is this guy the new Sanjaya? We really aren’t trying to insult him, but he’s simply not very good, and keeping him in this competition at this point feels almost like doing him a disservice.
The bottom two was partially a surprise, as Burnell was joined by Janelle Arthur, who we really think has had a pretty brilliant two-week run on the show. We can all agree that neither should go home, but it felt like the judges would save Janelle, but send Burnell home. Burnell got the chance to sing for his life, and personally we almost wanted him to stay just so Lazaro wouldn’t be the only guy left. (Not trying to be mean, but all of the guys in the top 10 were better than him.) Him singing “Ready For Love” to Amber Holcomb? Big, giant brass balls! Sadly, there was no save handed down, and the judges are clearly saving it for the women.
