‘Game of Thrones’ season 3: A new video look at Jon Snow, the Wildings’ story
Yesterday, we posted some video proof of the amazingness of the “Game of Thrones” YouTube channel courtesy of an inside look at how the scene regarding Daenerys and the Unsullied was created for the season 3 premiere Sunday night; and now, we have a more panoramic view of the story that was told during the episode as a whole.
In the video below, show executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss each discuss some of the characters’ motivations that we are seeing play out during this early stage of the season. For Kit Harrington’s Jon Snow, for example, much of what he is doing at the moment is a part of a journey of self-discovery. He has long believed in his mind that the Wildings were somehow the bad guys, but thanks in part to Ygritte, his eyes have been opened somewhat to all of the different perspectives that are out there in Westeros.
In addition to Jon’s journey, the video does touch a little bit upon Dany is Astapor along with some of the tension that is clearly present between Cersei, a woman who has long desired some sort of control over Joffrey and others, and Margaery Tyrell, who is more of a threat than almost anyone who has stepped into King’s Landing. Why? Not only is she incredibly manipulative and smart, but she is strong in one area in which Cersei is very weak: communicating and understanding other people. This allows her to at times be strong in areas in which Cersei is weak, and Lena Headey’s character will likely try to compensate for this in ways throughout the rest of the season.
