‘Glee’ season 4 spoilers: Who’s working with a shady producer?

Remember how Ryan Murphy told us last night that there was going to be an upcoming episode of “Glee” this season that does very much focus on Mercedes’ journey? Well, let’s just say that we may be meeting someone who could simultaneously try to help and take advantage of her pretty soon.

According to a new report from E! News, the show is currently casting the character of Martin for the penultimate episode of season 4. The good news is that he is a music producer; the bad news? He also has a history of exhibiting some rather shady behavior. We’ve all heard time and time again stories of how producers and managers have tried to take advantage of a naive young talent for personal gain, and it’s certainly possible that this could be happening here.

So is Mercedes going to be Martin’s collaborator? It’s a little early to tell, sinc eit is also feasibly that Santana (Naya Rivera) could try to team up with this guy in hopes of starting a music career. We’re just going for the time being based on what we know now, and Mercedes moved out to Los Angeles at the end of season 3 in order to pursue a career as a recording artist.

It may sound a little counter-intuitive, but we almost hope that Murphy switches gears for “Glee” season 5, and rather than focusing on New Directions and all of these assorted people, makes a show about a small group still trying to follow their dreams. After all, by the end of this season all of the original members of New Directions will have graduated, and are we really going to stay around at McKinley for some people we’ve barely come to know? (No offense to Marley and Jake … and the writers have seemingly given up on the idea that Will is a major character.)
