‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9, episode 20 preview: Meredith, Derek, and results
At the end of last week’s “Grey’s Anatomy” season 9 episode, we saw Meredith make a very important decision when it comes to the future of her family: going to her mentor in Bailey, and asking if she can have her genetic material mapped out. Why? She wanted to know if she was going to be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s down the line, as this is the disease that decimated the life of her mother.
Honestly, we thought that this was going to be a secret that would not be unveiled until Thursday night, but the sneak peek below more or less lays it out for us. After originally trying to dance around the question likely out of fear of what Meredith would do. Bailey lays it out to Ellen Pompeo’s character (who has Derek clenching her hands) that she does have some of the genetic markers for the disease. This is not necessarily a guarantee that she will get it, but it does mean that she will need to exercise a great deal of caution from here on out.
Is there something more to Bailey’s explanation? It seems like it, since the clip below cuts off the moment that the revelation about Alzheimer’s is made. It’s possible that there are some other steps that can be taken to keep her safe, and while we know that Shonda Rhimes loves a little bit of drama in her shows, we have a hard time believing that she would want her principal character to spend the rest of her life worried and/or depressed. (After all, Meredith spends a great deal of her time worrying as it is.)
What do you think about this sneak peek? If you want to read some more of what Shonda Rhimes is saying about the upcoming “Grey’s Anatomy” finale, you can do so by heading on over to the link here.

Honestly don’t you think we have had enough drama between Mer/Der for the last 8 seasons. Shonda promised good things for the two of them. What happened. God and Shonda only knows what we are to expect for S10. Give us a break already. I want to see this show go way beyond S11. Give us good news for a change. I have all 8 seasons in my library and I want to continue way past Friends. This is a wonderful show. More hot romance for these two please.
