‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4: Ian Somerhalder on ‘Originals,’ ’50 Shades of Grey’

Ian SomerhalderIt’s that time of the week again for someone to ask Ian Somerhalder about those pesky “50 Shades of Grey” rumors, but this time around, we actually have to say that it turns into a rather funny story.

In an interview with the Associated Press, the “Vampire Diaries” star explained that “everyone” in Hollywood at this moment is pretty much up for the Christian Grey role, and he explained that it was by and large a testament to the world that E.L. James had created and some of the reaction that this book has already drawn from his fans. He also explained that he was at Whole Foods recently when he saw a woman reading the book, and there was quite a moment that resulted when she looked up and saw him standing in front of her. (Hearing her profession, and the way Ian actually tried to soothe her embarrassment, is what makes this story even better.)

Somerhalder also explains in this interview his jealousy at the fact that he was the only “Vampire Diaries” cast member who didn’t get to fly to New Orleans in order to shoot “The Originals,” but he also was okay with it given that he will have plenty of other opportunities to head out to his hometown in the future. He also expressed some kind words for Joseph Morgan and the rest of his onscreen siblings, who are now going to have an opportunity to be a part of something completely different:

“I’m happy that they’re getting fresh meat and new stories and ideas in there … They’re going to have fun with it.”
