‘The Voice’ UK premiere: Watch Jessie J in two-minute clip (video)
On Saturday, “The Voice” UK is set to be back for its second season; and thus, we will have another attempt at seeing if a show other than “The X Factor” can launch a star in Great Britain. At this point, the show’s first season has turned out to be just as much of a disappointment as the show in America, as we have seen three winners thus far, and none of them have turned out to be particularly successful. (Then again, it is still early when it comes to Cassadee Pope, and things can ultimately change very quickly.) Meanwhile, Leanne Mitchell from the first season across the pond has been a ghost, but she has also not yet released an album.
So what’s going to be going on for the second season of the British version? When it comes to changes, there really won’t be many save for a shorter span of time in which the live rounds go, as the show is really looking more to emphasize what people like (the blind auditions) more than what really bores them.
We should also expect plenty more banter, as the rapport established last year between Jessie J, will.i.am, Danny O’Donoghue, and Sir Tom Jones was pretty strong. If there is one thing that the show got particularly right, it is the chemistry between the coaches.
The preview clip below features something that has become a bit of a traditional for all versions of “The Voice,” and that is some sort of group performance with all of the coaches involved. We have to say here that while Jessie J handles most of the heavy lifting, this is a good bit of fun, and we’re interested in seeing if the show can balance that with actually finding a star.
