‘Homeland’ season 3: Damian Lewis promises excitement … but how much?
There’s one aspect of television production that is in many ways almost as fascinating as the show itself: watching the way in which networks and actors choose to handle keeping secrets when they are away from the show. With some shows, they will keep the major plot secrets, but disclose a few things here or there to keep you excited. Then, there are some other shows that will keep quiet about everything related to the plot, but will at least announce a few castings here and there during the offseason.
Finally, we have a show like “Homeland,” which tries to follow the “Mad Men” model to the best of its ability in saying absolutely nothing about the show before it happens, and to later allow the series to ultimately speak for itself. The start of production on new episodes is now less than two months away, so Damian Lewis probably is starting to have a pretty good idea as to what is going to be coming up next courtesy of whatever communication he has had with the executive producers.
However, that doesn’t mean that he is going to be talking about it in any shape or form. As a matter of fact, all the actor would say when asked by the Independent was that this season would be “exciting,” and perhaps even more so than the two seasons that would come before it. He and the rest of the cast are of course contractually bound to keep quiet on the rest of the story, mostly because when you are dealing with a show as heavily serialized as this one is, it would be tragic to ruin any of the surprise.
What sort of story do you think it would take for this season of “Homeland” to be better than the first two? If you want to read some more of Lewis’ thoughts on the Carrie / Brody relationship, you can do so over at the link here.
