‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9, episode 19 review: Sarah Chalke shines, Owen plays nice
For an episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” that was billed almost all about Sarah Chalke’s storyline, it actually turned out that there was quite a bit that unfolded even outside of this.
But first, we do have to give Chalke her due. For someone who has been known throughout her career mostly for comedic roles, the former “Scrubs” star delivered here in a story that had to be rather difficult to play. Why? It was based off of an experience that she went through as a mom, where her own child was suffering from a disease that no doctor knew how to effective diagnose or to treat. It was clearly one of the best performances of her career, and the good news is that it also turned out okay for her fictional child. They eventually realized that it was Kawasaki Disease in enough time to be able to treat it, and thus keep there from being much in the way of permanent damage to the heart.
When it comes to the couples this week, we did see some movement forward for both Jackson and April, Alex squaring off with Jo’s new man Jason at any chance that he could, and even a few sweet moments for Callie and Arizona as the latter made sure that she would be able to deliver a speech that she was so looking forward to. In the end, we don’t necessarily have anything when it comes to closure for either one of these stories. Shonda Rhimes is obviously waiting until the end of the season to really unveil all of her biggest shockers, but we are well on the way.
As for the sweetest moment of the night, it came when Owen took care of a young kid in need, and did everything in his power to make sure that he felt okay.
