‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 spoilers: Ian Somerhalder on Nina Dobrev’s two roles
“The Vampire Diaries” season 4 will air a pivotal episode Thursday night in “American Gothic,” and in addition to all of the cool stuff that you usually hope to see on the series, we are also going to get the opportunity to see just what happens when Elena and Katherine finally face off for the first time since the former decided to switch off her humanity.
You know that these scenes had to be a thrill for Nina Dobrev to play, and based on what Ian Somerhalder explained recently in a new interview with TV Guide, the problems between the two are going to be apparent here almost from the get-go as they each have specific goals, and are willing to do just about anything and everything in order to turn these goals into reality:
“There’s always a problem with that because Katherine’s first inclination’s going to be to kill Elena, that’d be the best thing to do because the boys want Elena to take the cure, and Katherine wants it because that’s her only leverage.
“The meeting of the two of them is going to be interesting because you have the young and the old, the hungry and the bitter. They’re both extremely divisive and they are both pretty powerful.”
As for whether or not either one of these two vampires is going to achieve what they want to, that is the real question. Katherine has always been a character who does what it takes to survive, and we assume that this will continue regardless of what happens here. As for Elena, sooner or later she is probably going to realize that she cannot ignore her emotional side forever.
What do you think is going to happen when these two forces collide? Be sure to share all of your theories below, and you can also pay a visit to the link here in order to see the latest on Klaus and Caroline.
