CNN looking at Anderson Cooper – Kathy Griffin series
In what is either the greatest news of all time or something that will inevitably destroy some of the magic, Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin are looking to extend their relationship with CNN even further.
According to a new report from Deadline, the comedienne and the newsman, who are good friends in real life, both filmed a pilot today in front of a live audience. It is not entirely clear just what the show was about, but there was reportedly a very strong humor component to it (which should not come as much of a surprise to anyone at all).
So why would CNN actually want to consider a move in this direction? That is unclear? For one, the network has established presence over the years as an unbiased news source, and it is the one place that really feels like you can go to whenever there is any sort of major story breaking with the world. Meanwhile, Kathy and Anderson are special on the network in that they host the annual New Year’s Eve bash, but would this really be nearly as interesting if we actually saw them together on a pretty regular basis? The tradition is always watching Cooper try to take the even somewhat seriously, while Kathy basically spends the entire duration of the show trolling him, flirting with the audience, and scrambling in hopes of finding where Ryan Seacrest is. This is our favorite New Year’s Eve broadcast and could watch it year in and year out,
What do you think: is seeing Anderson and Kathy potentially extending their relationship with CNN a good idea, or are we just looking at something here that is doomed to fail? We want to hear from you below, and you can read some more highlights from New Year’s Eve this past year over at this link.
