‘Falling Skies’ season 3, ‘Major Crimes’ season 2 premieres announced by TNT
As we start to near the beginning of summer TV, it’s about that time when all of the networks start to unveil their full lineups. For TNT, this means launching all of their popular shows across multiple nights and times, and thus giving them an opportunity to build up buzz as the months go on.
We’ll start with what may be the network’s sci-fi hit in “Falling Skies,” which will return for its third season with a two-hour episode on Sunday, June 9 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern. Just like with the first two seasons, the show will shift back to its 10:00 timeslot the following week, and the extended time is simply a way in which to ensure that fans get exactly what they have been waiting for ever since the summer beforehand. There’s not too much known about the plot for the new season just yet, but you can expect to see some of the drama and the suspense risen to a new level now that Tom and the 2nd Mass. are surrounding by a much larger group of survivors.
Meanwhile, “Major Crimes” season 2 will premiere the following night at 9:00, and it will lead into the premiere of new series “King & Maxwell.” If there is one word that the network loves here, it’s definitely “and” when you look at some other upcoming premieres including “Rizzoli & Isles” (June 18 at 9, prior to “Perception”) and “Franklin & Bash” (July 24 at 9).
As for some unscripted fare, TNT will tout out a new series featuring The Rock entitled “The Hero” on June 6, and it will be following by another show entitled “72 Hours” (which has to be more intense than “48 Hours,” based on the name alone).
