ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5, episode 17 preview: Now featuring Wes Craven

Monday night’s new episode of “Castle” season 5 is going to focus very much on scary stories, and with that in mind, doesn’t it only seem appropriate that we would have one of the masters of scary stories in Wes Craven stop by for an appearance?

In the sneak peek below, we have an opportunity to see the legendary horror filmmaker stop by as Rick calls him up in the middle of the night, presumably to get some advice about a case that he is working on that has driven him a little batty. Basically, he starts to fear for his life after believing that a woman may have died after watching some sort of tape with supernatural powers (a la “The Ring”), and he accidentally watches it, as well. Unfortunately for him, it does not seem as though Craven is really any help at all.

Is there really going to be something other-worldly going on during this episode? At the moment, we have to deny any such notion: even if there are at times funny costumes and “Firefly” references, creator Andrew W. Marlowe has created a world here that is fairly realistic, and there is sure to be some sort of real-life explanation for what went on with this woman’s passing.
