‘Homeland’ season 3 producers team with ‘Joan of Arcadia’ star for CBS pilot

CBSWhile Howard Gordon, Alex Gansa, and Alex Cary may have a major critical and commercial hit on their hands in “Homeland” (now entering its third season), they seem to have quite a fascinating with casting stars of cult series for their new project “Anatomy of Violence.” We already know that Skeel Ulrich of “Jericho” is going to play the male lead; and now, the former star of “Joan of Arcadia” is also joining the fold.

According to a brand-new report from Deadline, Amber Tamblyn has been cast to play the role of Abby, an intelligent young FBI agent who shares a complicated past with Raines, Ulrich’s character who is a brilliant criminologist who studies young psychopaths.

There is no word as of this writing concerning where this series currently stands in the CBS pecking order, but the producers on board the project have to give the network some confidence that this will turn out to be successful. The only thing going against it right now? While Ulrich and Tamblyn (who also recently had an arc on “House”) have a devoted audience, they are small compared to some other actors out there; plus, CBS has traditionally over the years gone for volume (and slightly older viewers) than such other networks as NBC and Fox.

The current openings in the network’s fall schedule could be Tuesdays, Fridays, and possible either Sundays or Thursdays depending on whether or not producers want to change some things around. We’ll have a little bit more information to share at the network’s upfront presentation in May.
