ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5, episode 17 preview: Beckett flirts with a terrified Castle

Did you miss “Castle”? We sure did, and based on what we are seeing already from Monday night’s new episode “Scared to Death,” we are going to be in for quite an entertaining hour of television. Not only are we going to be seeing a mystery that is unlike any that the show has done so far, but there are going to be some great possibilities for comedy as Nathan Fillion’s title character gets his paranoid on early and often.

First and foremost, Castle starts to become a little bit wary of the murder case when he realizes that the victim not only seemingly died mid-scream, but that some of her last words were “it’s coming for” rather than “he / she is coming for me.” Considering that no one really thinks their last words before getting killed through so carefully, we have to imagine that this was uttered impulsively and based on something that happened around her.

Regardless of the reason behind her death, it is pretty much official: this case freaks Castle out. How much? Let’s just say that he is turning down sleeping with Beckett simply because of his own fear that doing so will cause him to get killed, which happens in a myriad of horror films. This episode seems to be in some ways inspired by “The Ring,” and there is one moment in particular during this where our intrepid author really believes that he is about to bite the dust.

On a different note, the talk on Twitter is that the moment at the end of this clip was unscripted.

What do you think about these two videos, and are you glad to see that “Castle” is going in a little bit more of a comedic direction after being so serious with their kidnapping plot involving Rick’s dad?
