‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4, episode 16 review: Did Klaus really just [spoiler]?

KlausWell, the upcoming “Vampire Diaries” episode all about “The Originals” just got more interesting; and if this show ends up getting picked up to series, we have a chance to have a prospective couple straight from the get-go.

At the very end of “Bring It On,” we had more or less Hayley saying this without actually uttering the words, and following a torture session by Klaus in order to find out the whereabouts of Katherine, the two ended up doing the deed. Stockholm syndrome, anyone? The other interesting part of all this is that Klaus actually seems to be closer to Katherine than anyone else on the show at the moment. After all, Damon teamed up with Rebekah for most of the episode in an attempt to try to undercover both her and the cure, but to unfortunately no avail.

As for some other important events during this episode, not even a feud involving Caroline could bring Elena back from turning off her humanity switch. As a matter of fact, she tried to convince Caroline to do the same thing since she would stop whining about Tyler. Speaking of Michael Trevino’s character, things aren’t looking good: Tyler left a letter saying that he was never coming back (though we’re hearing that he could make one more appearance this season in some shape or form), and he gave Matt the deed to his house.

This was overall a pretty entertaining hour, largely thanks to the crazy cheerleading scenes that show just how far Elena has come in a short amount of time. It was a very different look for the show, and it will be interesting to see how this progresses to the end of the season.
