FX’s ‘The Americans’ spoilers: Philip will meet up with an old flame

When we first met Philip and Elizabeth on “The Americans”, Philip spoke of defecting and turning against the KGB in hopes that he and Elizabeth could give their children a normal life without threat, but Elizabeth refused to turn against Russia and Philip left the idea alone.  As time went on, Philip and Elizabeth’s fake marriage actually started to turn into a real one, filled with  love, passion and romance and we have been really enjoying watching this relationship grow into something with substance.

On last week’s episode of “The Americans” Philip and Elizabeth were captured and tortured by the KGB to see if they would give up any information about the organization.  Once they were confident that Philip and Elizabeth would die before giving talking, they were informed that the whole situation was a set up and that their loyalty was being tested, because there was a mole in the organization and no one could be trusted.  Philip later learns that Elizabeth told the KGB that he was liking America a little too much and he feels completely betrayed by her – this was also probably another part of the KGB’s plan to break their trust, so the only people they do trust is the KGB.

Now that Philip and Elizabeth are back to having very little relationship, Elizabeth has gone back to Gregory, asking him to watch over her and because he is in love with her he is happy to do so. So what about Philip – is there no lady love for him?  According to Entertainment Weekly tonight’s episode of “The Americans” will find Philip reuniting with an old flame, who will be bringing him some huge news about their past (could they have a child together?)  After the initial shock of the “news” viewers will learn that things aren’t always as they seem.
