‘The X Factor’ USA / UK notes: Carly Rose Sonenclar, Cheryl Cole, Rylan Clark
We’ve got some great stuff coming up on both sides of “The X Factor” pond tonight, but let’s start off with a fun little video Carly Rose Sonenclar posted on her WhoSay page thanking her Brazilian fans for not just all of their support, but a special flag that they recently shipped her way.
Anyone who has a Twitter account really knows already that there are few countries with better fan followings out there than Brazil, so for Carly to reach out to them is an incredibly kind and also a smart move. When you look at some of the most-successful young artists of the past decade, including a certain “X Factor” judge in Demi Lovato, they have toured in Brazil. While there are not too many opportunities to go down and perform, the fans who up like no one’s business.
Hopefully, this is a sign of good things to come for Carly and her Brazilian fan base.

Time to deny some rumors! – This is one of our favorite parts of the week, mostly because we get to point and laugh at some of the crazy things that the folks over at the British tabloids are saying … and this time, there really is quite a bit that we could have a little bit of fun with.
1. Despite rumors floating around, a source confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that Melanie Amaro and Astro have not been dropped from their Epic Records contracts. While Astro has gotten some mixtapes out there into the public (which he largely released and produced himeslf), Melanie must have a pretty interesting story to tell right now of how she won the show, and then has seen her album pushed back twice already. We can see waiting on Astro to mature a little, but Melanie? No.
2. We’re going all in that Cheryl Cole is not returning to the American show next year after getting fired a few tapings into season 1. We don’t care what’s out there. This is just a rumor that the British tabloids come up with time and time again when they’re bored. It would be a weird PR move for the show to have her back, and there is also active litigation here.
3. Rylan Clark is not in a feud with Nicole Scherzinger on the British series. The judge made headlines for calling him a “diva” and saying that he doesn’t return any of her phone calls on “The Jonathan Ross Show,” but she has since clarified it by saying that she was just joking around.

I actually agree Karigan L. I don’t get why people with no background in music have to bash her. If you look at all the people who do vocal range videos on youtube, they all say she’s amazing and they can’t wait to hear her voice when she’s 18. Carly’s lower register is husky and rich. Her middle and upper register are light and bright. I think she’s capable of going into the sixth octave. So you uneducated fools need to back off. She didn’t arrange the songs she sang on the x factor. Remember she’s 13. AKA still a child. Her cousin was on youtube saying Carly reads the negative comments on these sites and on twitter. So careful what you say. People have feelings.

Max, I get what you’re saying about the belting. However, I disagree with you about her ‘pop stardom.’ I think she’s going to be our next great vocalist because her lows and mids are already excellent. She surpised me with her upper register. It’s very light. She has great musicality. I love her use of dynamics. I think she’s young and has a ton of potential. You can’t expect her to be perfect yet, she’s 13. She has 10 years to work on her already amazing vocal. She’ll get her head voice down. In 3 to 5 years, you’ll see. She will be slaying her own generation. I know because I’m a vocal coach.

I still say Rachel Crow sang ‘If I were a boy” better than Carly. Anything Carly sings she fakes her emotions or exaggerates it and I blame her broadway background. Like when she sang John Lennon’s “Imagine”, she sang it in a very angry manner. Wrong emotion Carly is what I kept saying. And then her crying after “It will Rain.” This is why I dislike actors becoming singers. They easily fake emotions. Whenever I read articles about her performances, they always said that her performances were theatrical or cabaret-ish. And they do scream broadway to me. And that’s a bad thing if you want a pop career. Google it: Carly Rose Sonenclar vs. David Archuleta: why David’s cover was superior. It mentions that Carly’s voice is too big for pop stardom and she fits broadway better. And I see it in all her covers, her belting and runs are excessive..thats’s what they do on broadway. Her phrasing is never short. When you are 13, you have no business belting that much because your vocal chords will ruin. Ask classical and pop vocal coaches. They always say broadway based vocal coaches are bad for children because they emphasize belting way too much and young people under 16 have to limit that because of its effects on the folds of the vocal chords. If she’s serious about a pop career, she needs to move to L.A. everyone records there, hardly anyone does it in NY. All the producers aand songwriters live in L.A. I have hope that when Carly is signed, the producers will change the way she sings.

Her Pepsi challenge song was also a song by a woman Beyonce . If I were a boy. Plus she sang Adele’s Rolling in the deep.on the xfactor. Feeling Good -by Nina Simone . She’s just incredible .

Angie you seem kind of bitter. Carly covered Alica Keys, Judy Garland and more. Not everyone puts songs on You Tube with professional equipment. Calm down you will have more than enough time to rip her apart when her professionally produced album comes out ( because we all know you will no matter how epic is will be) I would assume her Manager is having her slowly submit new songs as any artist would do. Give the people a taste and they want more. Just take a chill pill

**Angie M, Mary-Beth doesn’t seem to be the one annoying to me. She was just talking up Carly whom she seems to be a huge fan. Btw Carly covered Celine Dion, Judy Garland and Mariah on X factor. All 3 were excellent in a lot of people’s opinion.

**As for as why Carly sings songs by men, well she sings songs from people of whom she’s a fan and I don’t see why that is any different than any one else. Carly said she would do more covers so more will come.

You’re so annoying mary-beth. Accept that she has no new covers and won’t release the Bruno Mars one bc it’s probably bad quality. the sound wasn’t of great quality for her first video. Just like 5th harmony needs a better camera to record their covers, Carly needs a good quality microphone for her covers. I’ve noticed Carly always covers guys. I wonder why? Is she capable of covering a woman’s song whose names aren’t Nina and Adele?

I met Carly at the DRI event at Dave & Buster’s on March 10th. And she was super friendly and nice. She posed for pictures. And she is thin. She is definitely NOT fat. Not that what someone weighs matters.

Everyone please check out fifth harmony’s offical youtube..they’ve released 2 covers the past two weeks. One of them has over 354,000 views. The one that was released 4 days ago has 152,000 views..and subscribe..and follow them on twitter @FifthHarmony…the album will be released soon. They’ll most likely release another cover this week. Our girls are going to be huge stars. I’m excited!

MileyFan, its possible she might release a cover of Bruno Mars “Runaway Baby” she recorded back at Btoven music studios. Still no word if that will happen though. She has a Starlight event coming up, and possibly finalizing her record deal. So maybe after that.

I have a feeling Carly’s signing will be announced this week and then she can work on her debut album..so excited..which I know will be catered to us teens. Aw Carly is such a sweetheart she’s always doing charity work. She was doing that yesterday. I was hoping for someone to upload a video of her singing.
