‘Downton Abbey’ season 4 spoilers: Allen Leech teases ‘exciting’ things for Branson
Without Matthew Crawley on board “Downton Abbey” season 4 (which is still a thought that makes many people rather sad), is it possible that we are going to see an even more substantial role for Tom Branson? Based on what the actor behind the part is saying now, it certainly seems like it.
Speaking as a part of a brand-new interview (per The Star), the actor explains that while things may start a little bit slow for the character given where much of the focus will lie (probably around Michelle Dockery’s Mary), it does sound as though we will be things for him taken up to a completely different notch once the middle of the season rolls around:
“There are a couple of things I can’t really talk about. But yeah, definitely toward the middle of the series it gets very exciting.”
Is there really anything we can speculate on when it comes to Tom’s role. It’s rather difficult for the time being. While we know that it is possible that the character could find another love someday after losing Sybil, he has also said in the past that it is probably not going to be happening at any point in the near future, especially after the events from the season 3 Christmas special. (Mary, meanwhile, is already going to be getting suitors left and right). We anticipate him taking an active role in the estate with Matthew gone, and also a continued struggle for him to try and recognize his new place within society.
What do you want to see happen for Tom Branson moving forward on “Downton Abbey”? Be sure to share some more of your thoughts below, and you can also hear a little bit more about Hugh Bonneville is spending his free time doing by heading on over to the link here.

Kate ! That is it! Through Edith’s journalistic efforts, Tom meets a woman very involved in Ireland’s cause. For a long time, their relationship is focused on their
beliefs concerning Ireland.

I would like to see Tom involved with running the estate alongside Robert, who will recognise his worth! Long term, I would hope he will get involved with a modern, proffesional woman. Perhaps someone he meets through Ediths journalistic adventures!
