ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 2: Another dose of Olivia Pope to keep you waiting

If you are a “Scandal” fan, then you are already well aware of the fact that we are smack-dab in the middle of a very long wait for new episodes. Even though “Grey’s Anatomy” will be back for another new installment (entitled “Transplant Wasteland”) on Thursday night, we are going to have to wait for another week before Olivia Pope & Associates return to the air. What’s the reason for this? Basically, it all amounts to the simple fact that the medical drama has an order of 24 episodes (which is easier to pull off with a large cast), whereas this series has only 22. Following next week, each new episode of one show will be paired with a new episode of another.

As for just what we can expect, there is not too much in the way of new footage shown off in the new promo released for the show last night. It’s basically a modified version of what the show had on the air during the Academy Awards, which allowed Kerry Washington to show off a little bit more skin than the majority of the people on the red carpet for the awards show.

Ultimately, we do think that this is still some very smart promotion for what is already a very successful show, and for one main reason: it gets people interested who are not already fans. You have to assume that many of the regular viewers are going to keep tuning in week after week, so you have to find a way to go after a new group. Luckily, this show is still early enough in its run that it can really pull this off.
