‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 6, episode 18 review: Disneyland and Diamond White
The moment that we heard that Thursday night’s new “Big Bang Theory” episode was going to feature Sheldon in front of middle-school girls, we knew that there was the potential to end up being an instant classic. So was it? Just through one speech alone once the characters arrived at the school, yes.
The idea for Sheldon, Leonard, and Raj to attend this school was brought up by Johnny Galecki’s character as he looked for more ways to get women involved into science. Through a pretty hilarious discussion, Howard’s old school ended up offering him a chance to come back and speak to the students.
There is one brief monologue from Sheldon that really made this entire storyline worthwhile: Sheldon telling the students that they, too, could become like Marie Curie and make some great scientific breakthrough, only to later have the product of their own research ultimately kill them. Leonard also tried to pour out his heart like he was at an embarrassing counseling session. (For those of you wondering, that was Diamond White of “The X Factor” in the classroom. We first reported on this several weeks ago, which shows that she is interested in more than just music.)
As for the B-story, it was entertaining in its own way as Bernadette and Amy dragged Penny along as they tried to fulfill their princess destinies while at Disneyland. This ended up colliding hilarious with the primary story, as Amy and Bernadette were called up to explain to the students via phone about how being a scientist empowers women … while playing hooky dressed as princesses.
The final plot of the night really did not have much to do with the others, but Raj nearly got a kiss this week! While it’s clear that he and Lucy both have serious social issues to work through, there is at least some progress being made her on both sides.

I liked it, was a good episode. Though I felt like such a loser as the moment they said they were getting make overs in Disneyland my automatic thought was how they don’t let you go to bippitu bop boutique if you are an adult. They also don’t let people dress up as characters unless it is the Halloween party. xP

I have yet to see a bad episode of The Big Bang Theory. This one was different in a way, especially as Sheldon showed some real insight into people that is not usually there. HIs comment about getting younger students (girls) interested in science was rational, and he is seldom rational about anything relating to interaction with people. His subsequent interaction with the girls at the middle school was true to form, however. The Raj/Lucy date was cute, but Raj is more interesting when he is excited or nervous about something. And Bernadette was absolutely terrifying when she insisted on being Cinderella at Disneyland. At the end, when Howard came home, hoping she WAS Cinderella, it made more sense. I got the feeling they had talked about it beforehand, and his fantasy about her came true. Leonard getting all excited about Penny being Sleeping Beauty (I think that’s who she was) was cute, too. Of course, Sheldon nailed the funny bone when Amy, as Snow White, wanted him to kiss her awake, and he replied indifferently, “Heard you the first time.” Hilarious!
